With the holy month of Ramadan expected to start this 2nd of April, people are now preparing to fast and reflect. Working and school hours are also shorter and allowing more time for leisure and activities. For the adventure-seekers you can take advantage of the still pleasant weather in Dubai to catch a whole host of events and activities happening this month of April. We’ve rounded them up for you so get your travel notebook ready and list out all these fun things happening this month.
Ramadan Tents
After 2 years of closure due to the pandemic, Ramadan Iftar Tents will be making a comeback and they are expected to be grander and more lavish than before. With the announcement from NCEMA last march that Iftar tents are now permitted in UAE once again. Famous hotels and establishments have released news of their iftar tents. Wide range of options from the classic and grandeur iftar tents to the contemporary ones are available for everyone.
Set of guidelines that you should follow to ensure safety for everyone:
1. Participants must be at least one meter apart
2. Tents can only open two hours before the time of Iftar
3. There must be security guards or volunteers to manage people at the entry and exits
4. Posters need to be hung up at all Iftar tent entrances and exits
5. The Al Hosn Green Pass system and tent capacities will be determined by the local committees in each emirate. Having green status is currently mandatory to enter public places in Abu Dhabi.
6. People attending Iftars in the UAE should also avoid handshakes during greetings.
7. Participants must wear face masks, maintain social distancing, and use hand sanitizer.
8. Iftar tents must be designed with a form of canopy that is open from all sides or be air-conditioned
9. Tents must also have disposable table covers, while disposable plates, cutlery and cups for each individual are recommended.
10. Local authorities in each of the emirates will approve the setup of iftar tents, the maximum capacity for each tent and their locations in coordination with the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC)

Nad Al Sheba Run and Cycling Championship
Are you up for some heated competition? This is your chance to prove your prowess on the track in Dubai. The Nad Al-Sheba Run is open for men and women of all nationalities living in UAE and is divided between two distances, 5KM and 10KM and registration is only until April 3 but if you fancy a fiercer competition on wheels you can sign up for the NAS Cycling championship. It is divided into multiple categories like Men’s Open, People of Determination category, Women’s Open, Amateur Emiratis and Amateur Female and is also open to all men and women living in UAE and registration is open until April 10. Spinney’s Family Run
Looking for a more family-friendly activity? Spinney’s supermarket will be holding another jogging event from their series of community fun runs made for the whole family to enjoy. The Spinney’s Family run is open to all from ages 3-99, casual runners can choose the 2.5k but if you’re sportier and up to the challenge you can opt to participate in 5KM. Participants will receive a branded t-shirt and at the finish line, you can receive an AED20 Spinneys Voucher, Finishers Medal, Breakfast snack, and certificate of completion.
